About this speaker
Monty Gibson is in his third season as the Browns' assistant strength and conditioning coach, after being named to the position on April 5, 2018.
Came to Cleveland with over 25 years of coaching experience, with the previous 18 spent as a member of the Texas A&M strength and conditioning staff.
As a sports performance coach at Texas A&M, was responsible for overseeing the strength and conditioning programs for the Aggie track and field men's and women's sprints and mid-distance runners, as well as the equestrian and men's tennis teams.
Worked alongside Browns director of strength and conditioning Larry Jackson for five years (2012-16) in the Aggie football program.
In 2017, trained several of Texas A&M's football players in preparation for the NFL Scouting Combine, in addition to assisting with the Aggie women's basketball offseason training program.
Served as the strength and conditioning coach for Women's and Men's Tennis, Aggie Baseball, Men's and Women's Diving and Men's and Women's Cross Country. Also served as the camp director of the Texas A&M Summer Strength and Conditioning Camp from 2004-12.
Prior to being promoted as one of the school's full-time strength and conditioning coaches in 2003, he served as a graduate assistant strength and conditioning coach from 2002-03 after serving as a volunteer strength and conditioning coach from 2000-02.
In addition, Gibson worked for Bryan ISD in Bryan, TX as a Middle School Athletic Coordinator and Elementary P.E. Coach from 1999-2002. He started his career at Fort Stockton ISD in Fort Stockton, TX from 1994 - 1999, first as a Middle School Coach and Teacher, then at the Fort Stockton High School, where he taught Honors Biology and coached Football, Swimming and Diving, Track, and Powerlifting.
Certified by the Collegiate Strength and Conditioning Coaches Association (CSCCa), in addition to being a strength and conditioning specialist by the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) and USA Weightlifting. Earned the title of Master Strength and Conditioning Coach with the CSCCa in 2016.
A native of San Angelo, Texas.
Earned his degree in biology and life-earth sciences in 1993 from Angelo State University. Also received a master's degree in exercise physiology from Texas A&M in 2003.
Gibson and his wife, Leah, have three sons, Garrison, Chase and Kyle.
